The first paragraph of your copy should contain your target keyword/keyphrase (the closer to the start of the sentence, the better).
Most importantly, the five Ws should all be answered in your first paragraph as quickly, simply and concisely as possible.
● Who was involved?
● What happened?
● Where did it take place?
● When did it take place?
● Why did that happen?
Ideally, your first introductory paragraph should be one complete sentence (although it can be two shorter sentences) containing no more than 80 words. This limit goes for your other paragraphs as well.
Remember, your introductory paragraph is intended to engage the reader and draw them further into your content. Don’t give too much away here – but start giving them a taste of what’s to come.
