SEO and Keyphrase Targeting

We don’t expect you all to be experts on Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) but we do need you to understand that TheSouthAfrican’s success is closely tied to best SEO practices. We advise you to research SEO and keyphrase targeting in your own time to better ensure that your content performs to the best of its ability and ranks highly on Google and other search engines.

While we seldom sacrifice the quality of content for the sake of SEO, it’s important to be aware of keyphrases and how repeating those phrases/words throughout your content, at strategic points, will ultimately increase your content’s engagement.  

Keyword targeting is going to be a recurring theme throughout this Voice and Style Guide, so it’s best that you have a basic understanding of a) how to determine a powerful keyphrase and b) how to target that keyphrase throughout your content.
